2009!

Last year was brilliant,

John Key won the election,

Barack Obama has become the first African-American to be a president elect,

V8 Supercars came to Hamilton,

The Olympics were in Beijing, China, what a party that was,

But most of all I was in Mr. Woody's class.

My real question is,

What will this year hold in store for us?

Remeber 2008 was last year, it is already written in rock,

but 2009 is the present and it is still being written, anything is possible,

and all doors are open.

This year has been the best year of my life.

I have just had an absolutely awesome year being in Mr Woody's class.

Thanks for teaching me.

Everyone loves awards.

Well at least I do.

It's All Over Rover!

Well the 2008 Olympic games are over France grabbing the last gold medal in the sport of handball. The closing ceremony was just as amazing as the opening ceremony.

The job has now been handed over to London for the 2012 Olympic games.

Over all the medals given to athletes the country that came out on top was the host nation China. New Zealand finishing 26th on the medal table with 3 golds, 1 silver and 5 bronze.

Ben Fouhy Grabs 4th Place!

Despite a strong finish, Ben Fouhy has finished fourth in the K1 1000 final.
Fouhy, a silver medallist at Athens, was typically slow out of the blocks and was 5th place at the 500 metre stage but failed to catch the leaders.

Disastor For USA In 4x100 Metre Running Relay!

The US men's 4 x100 metres relay team failed to qualify for the Olympic final after dropping the baton in their heat on Thursday, then later on the USA's woman's 4x100 metre relay team also fail to make the final by dropping their baton as well.

Bummer On The BMX Course!

We had two competitors in. One in the men's and one in the womans.

Marc Willers sadly missed out on getting into the final while Sarah Walker came agonisingly close, but ultimately finished just out of the medals in the women's BMX final in Beijing.
The New Zealander finished fourth by just .13 of a second in a spectacular final on a sweltering hot morning at Lao Shan BMX stadium.

Tom Ashley Wins New Zealand's Third Gold!

New Zealand windsurfer Tom Ashley has won New Zealand's third gold of the Beijing Olympics in the RS-X discipline.
Starting the race in third position overall, Ashley needed to finish in front of Britain's Nick Dempsey and France's Julian Bontemps to claim the gold.

Nick Willis Wins Bronze For Kiwis!

The bronze medal dramatically achieved by Nick Willis on Wednesday continues a remarkable legacy in the Olympic 1500m.
Later on Wednesday afternoon the 25-year-old will become the sixth New Zealander to stand on the podium for this blue riband event.
Willis is now enshrined in the record books alongside Jack Lovelock (Gold, 1936), Peter Snell (Gold, 1964), John Davies (Bronze, 1964), Rod Dixon (Bronze, 1972) and John Walker (Gold 1976).

Bevan Docherty Wins Bronze In Triathlon!

Bevan Docherty has won bronze at the men's triathlon in Beijing. The Athens silver medallist was out sprinted down the finish line by surprise winner German Jan Frodeno and Canadian Simon Whitfield, who won the gold in Sydney in 2000.

Kiwi Mens Pursuit Team Win Bronze!

The Kiwi men's pursuit combination has collected the third bronze for New Zealand after easily beating Australia in the third place play-off.
They were able to gradually extend their lead through out the 4000 metre race and eventually finished 1.230 seconds ahead of their trans-Tasman rivals.

Michael Phelps!

Michael Fred Phelps (born June 30, 1985) is an American swimmer and 14-time Olympic gold medalist (the most by any Olympian), who currently holds seven world records in swimming.
He holds the record for the most gold medals won at a single Olympics; a total of eight, surpassing Mark Spitz. Overall, Phelps has won 16 Olympic medals: six gold and two bronze at Athens in 2004, and eight gold at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. In winning these medals, he has twice equaled Soviet gymnast Alexander Dityatin's record of eight medals (of any type) at a single Olympics (Dityatin: Moscow 1980; Phelps: Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008). Out of his eight gold medals from Beijing, five were won in individual events, tying the record for individual gold medals at a single Games originally set by Eric Heiden in the 1980 Winter Olympics and equaled by Vitaly Scherbo at the 1992 Summer Games. Phelps ranks second in total career Olympic medals, after Soviet gymnast Larissa Latynina, who won a total of 18 medals (nine gold) spanning three Olympic Games.
